begin begin begin again!

Started classes again yesterday, after the LONGEST SEMESTER IN THE WORLD. Nice new start, feels promising. I need to re-habituate my body to the new schedule, though. I always get ground into the daily routine and have to re-program for a week til it feels normal again. It's lucky, though, the newness doesn't wear off for a few weeks, so the semester doesn't feel as long (unless it runs over Christmas and then it's about a lifespan's length).

Isn't it fascinating how kids just don't have the other-people radar until they hit 11 or 12? No matter who's walking near them or obstructs their path, they will shout and yell and run right on top of you with the most impersonal thought of inconsideration. Every now and again I have the good fortune to walk home from Hyde Park corner around the time that the kids around the corner get out of school in the afternoons and I get run over every time, most people do. They have their little coats and jumpers and school uniforms and somewhere in front of them is an exasperated mother who probably would appreciate the other-people radar to kick in sooner rather than later, but you can't beat nature.

My room is stuffed with drying laundry. I spent my last Sunday traveling all day, so yesterday afternoon was my whole Sunday crammed into a few hours -- the cleaning, the laundry, the organizing, the bed-making, the dinner-planning. I usually only do one load of laundry at a time, but this time I had too much to ignore for a while, so everything in my room that can hold clothing is holding clothing, i.e. everything with a point has something draped over it to dry. My room smells like clean laundry, though, so that's nice.

I found my shoes. On sale. So absolutely no guilt. And I'm so in love with them, a little kid love.
